DON GOYO NATURAL OIL AND AROMA DIFFUSER
This aroma and essential oil diffuser represents the Popocatépetl volcano that sits on Mexico City’s skyline. The piece is a mix of loving labor from three artisans who are trained in traditional techniques, and one contemporary designer. The base is made from Tzalam wood, hand turned and finished by Rubén Hernández from Hidalgo; the wire framework, finished in electrostatic paint, was created by Jorge López from Mexico City; and the burnished clay pieces were the work of Francisco Lara from Guanajuato. The design came from Merakia’s talented Yunuén Hernández. The piece is available with two distinct base colors: natural and dark.
Taking the iconic form of the Popocatépetl volcano that sits on Mexico City’s skyline, the Don Goyo aroma and essential oils diffuser is a therapeutic object in both literal and symbolic senses: the delicate scents it emits will relax and relieve stress, whilst the eruptive force of the volcano, cleansing in its raw power, will release the building stress of the nation. Merakia is a brand which blends the real, the traditional and, through design and collaboration with skilled artisans, produces gorgeous and unique contemporary pieces. Inspired by the diverse cultural influences of Mexico, Merakia seeks to infuse their pieces with the myths, legends and actualities of the country, drawing on the diversity of materials, traditional skills and design sensibilities it possesses. Constantly searching out new local customs, landscapes and hidden corners of the nation, this truly Mexican brand seeks to infuse each piece with the best that the design team, the culture and the country have to offer.
