This Blue Majolica tea service set is handmade by the Cooperativa Ceramica d’Imola. Italian artisans founded the workshop in 1874. With a long history of making pieces in the maiolica style, the workshop is known around the world for the quality of its products.

The Cooperativa Ceramica d’Imola launched the Imolarte brand to produce classic homeware. It operates out of the same workshop, and makes pieces in the distinctive Imola style. While they have kept up to date with modern technologies and tastes, Imolarte still use traditional techniques in their work. As a result, each one of their pieces is tasteful, historical, and proudly ‘Made in Italy’.

Maiolica is the Italian name for tin-glazed earthenware. Merchants imported the style from Spain in the 1400’s. The term comes from the Spanish ‘Majolica’, named after the mediterranean island of Majorca. This island was a stop on the trade routes between Valencia and Italian ports. The merchant ships transported the pottery to Italy, where it became very popular.
Italian potters adopted and adapted majolica, quickly making it their own. Artisans were soon practicing it all over Italy. However, the home of maiolica has always been Imola.

Artisans at the Cooperativa Ceramica d’Imola still use their hands to turn bits of clay into amazing homeware, like this service. Likewise, each piece is hand painted in their signature style. First developed in the 1700’s, this decoration is now a classic. Artisans then glaze and fire each piece. After this, the pieces are ready for happy homes around the world.

Imolarte takes two (2) to three (3) weeks to prepare the blue Majolica tea service set. Once the designer has completed product development, you will receive an email confirming that your purchase is on the way. This email includes a tracking number that allows you to verify the status of your order.
