Jesus Romero is a leading light of Venezuela’s contemporary craft movement. His combination of traditional techniques and modern design results in a beautiful and unique rustic cake stand.
Jesus comes from a family of carpenters, with techniques being passed down through generations. Because of this, he learned to work wood from a young age. While he began by helping his uncle, he was soon doing his own work. He quickly became an expert in local techniques and traditional styles.
Venezuela has a rich history of woodworking, with each region having distinctive practices. Jesus Romero worked hard to learn them and developed his own practice as a result. His studies in industrial design and production further feed his passion and influenced his work.
Thanks to his particular style and talent, Romero’s pieces have been shown in galleries and museums around the world. Jesus now runs the Romero Workshop in Merida, where he develops new wooden cake stands and continues to redefine Venezuelan craft.
This teak cake display stand is created using traditional Venezuelan cabinetmaking techniques. The exotic woods are all responsibly sourced and selected for their color, strength, and natural properties. As a result, each rustic cake stand is a unique and durable artifact with a beautiful story.
The exotic hardwoods used in this rustic cake stand are sensitive to humidity. It’s best to keep it away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight to avoid damage. Furthermore, it is advisable to store it safely during colder months. This is because fluctuations in temperature can affect the molecular structure. Clean your large wood cake stand with a dry cloth and, if needed, specialist wax. Avoid oils, silicone compounds, and creams.
