Maison Numen’s 2021 trend forecast: Home Décor Colors and Styles

We are beyond excited with 2021 being around the corner, the impact such a peculiar year had on our lifestyle, on what we value most and how that translates in our home décor decisions is something we look forward to seeing, in our homes and those of our clients.

For now, this is our forecast, what we interpret from your shopping and what we see in the artisans that wisely craft our favorite pieces. A clash of patterns, organic materials and conscious home décor are some of the trends we expect to see in 2021, it is already happening as we speak! If this sounds like your cup of tea, go warm that kettle up, you’re going to love this.

Long lasting home décor gems

Wood home decor gems.

This is a product of humanity’s growing pains, of being forced to look deeply into each corner of our houses and ask ourselves: what am I saying with this? Our clients, and we’re guessing a lot of people too, are starting to look more into long lasting décor gems to fill their homes with meaningful objects. Nowadays, beauty is not the only driver in sales, sustainability and quality play a big part when it comes to choosing what we buy.

Responsible shopping

The concept of shopping responsibly is slowly, but steadily, becoming mainstream. Seeing the impact of “taking a year off” on the planet has turned many sceptics into believers. Assuring a better future for our world, décor pieces made of natural and low polluting materials are going to become a trend in the upcoming year.

Maison Numen was created as part of this movement, and we have been proudly supporting artisans working with responsible materials and practices for almost five years now. We believe in savoir faire, in doing things appropriately as part of an ethos, not greenwashing. All of our pieces are made of natural materials such as ceramics, wood, and linen. Some of them are upcycled, some are brand new and made to last.

Bring the great outdoors, indoors

Months of isolation at home have led us to incorporate bits of the outside into our spaces to reinforce our connection with nature. It’s not just about being more responsible, it’s about needing the outside in. That translates into lots of green and earthy tones, indoor plants and other organic materials and textures.

Style wise, all is game

Another trend that we’re going to see is the combination of patterns, strong colors and organic elements with functional and modern designs.

For the following year the paradigms that debate whether an object is sustainable, functional or artsy are going to break. Now the three can easily coexist. They must.

This new concept also applies to pieces from various parts of the world that allow us to bring home a bit of other cultures and societies. We will see more soul-made pieces that show dreams, experiences, culture and passion living next to a piece, equal in meaning, but from faraway lands.

These are a few of the many upcoming trends we have observed for the coming year. We’re excited to put them to practice, and we encourage you to follow the trends that resonate with you the most, and to not be afraid to set your imagination free. The most important part is to contribute to our planet and to have fun while we’re at it!
