BARRO NEGRO PENDANT LAMP
This piece, also called “Margarita” pendant lamp is made of Barro Negro from Oaxaca. With its feminine and soft body, it gives every space a warm but also dynamic feeling.
The lamp is named after David’s grandmother, feminine and welcoming.
The dynamic form of Margarita is inspired by the traditional Barro Negro vases.
Studio David Pompa is a nascent multidisciplinary design studio which splits time between Mexico and Austria. Founder David Pompa Alarcon grew up in both countries and enjoyed exposure to both cultures, before studying product design in London. The studio works closely alongside Mexican artisans, drawing upon their vast reserves of cultural knowledge and expert practice to create truly unique pieces. The idea of working with local craftspeople came to David whilst on a trip to Oaxaca in 2009, where he experienced skilled potters using the region’s famed Barro Negro for the first time. Since then, Studio David Pompa has been producing fusion pieces which meld the expertise of tradition with sophisticated modern design principles, creating examples of a truly contemporary Mexican art.
