The function of this piece can be as a bud vase but conceptually the object shows the possibility of various colours and textures in ceramics.
“Glaze” called “The skin of ceramics” is intriguing part in ceramics, the chemical reaction from raw material in the kiln was extraordinary. Using glaze makes feel like working in between as an artist but also scientist. The unique ceramic surface was created by the integration of technical skills and understanding of material. This work is a result of material research among 200 different recipes.
This is limited edition, every design has its one-off personality and all purely hand-made.
Ahryun Lee Recently has graduated from Royal College of Art, UK (2016), having studied ceramics in South Korea and UK, she explores numerous creative possibilities by embracing different perspectives between East and West. Her practice has developed in varied ways based on using a combination of professional skills alongside fundamental knowledge of materials.
Camouflage series is about how to translate the image of nature into ceramics. All patterns and colours are inspired by intriguing nature image and certain tactile surface is the result of my experiment in Glaze that glaze does not melt in the kiln while staying as a pattern itself.
