TALAVERA STYLE PENDANT LAMP
This pendant lamp, decorated in the traditional Talavera style of Puebla, takes inspiration from the folkloric traditions of Mexican culture. Each lamp is completely handmade and individually painted by Pueblan artisans in the iconic ‘132 Virrey’ pattern, making each one individual. The beautifully glazed body is counterbalanced by a gorgeous handpainted shade, giving this modern classic the perfect finishing touch. Includes a Foco LED.
Studio David Pompa is a nascent multidisciplinary design studio which splits time between Mexico and Austria. Founder David Pompa Alarcon grew up in both countries and enjoyed exposure to both cultures, before studying product design in London. The studio works closely alongside Mexican artisans, drawing upon their vast reserves of cultural knowledge and expert practice to create truly unique pieces. The idea of working with local craftspeople came to David whilst on a trip to Oaxaca in 2009, where he experienced skilled potters using the region’s famed Barro Negro for the first time. Since then, Studio David Pompa has been producing fusion pieces which meld the expertise of tradition with sophisticated modern design principles, creating examples of a truly contemporary Mexican art.
