TANOK LAVA ROCK CENTERPIECE BOWL
Handmade from Pueblan volcanic rock, a lid carved of Tzalam wood sourced in the Yucatan and a leather fastening, this piece is perfect for keeping Mexico’s famous maize tortillas warm. The geometric design gives a contemporary feel to this traditional piece, whilst it’s simple form and resilient materials make it ideal for storing or serving any number of things.
Inspired by the interactions between traditional cultural crafts and the raw elements which make up the world, AYRES creates stunning pieces from natural materials like lava rocks, Guayacán and Tzalam wood and naturally cured leathers. They are driven by the desire to design and create simple, lovingly crafted objects with the finest materials, and are always exploring new techniques and resources. Their production processes are completely manual, making each piece unique and handmade.
The AYRES team consists of Joana Valdez (an industrial designer from Yucatan, Mexico) and Karim Molina (a textile designer from Caracas, Venezuela), who both strive to produce beautiful pieces through fair and mutually rewarding collaborations with traditionally trained artisans, and through this create a more sustainable, natural world.
AYRES pieces are made on demand, and can take anywhere from three weeks to be ready. We recommend ordering these exclusive objets in time, so they arrive at precise moment in which they are to be enjoyed.
